Acai Antioxidants

Acai antioxidants are the most powerful antioxidants known to man. These protective antioxidants are important to the body because they fight off free radicals that can damage healthy cells.

But what exactly are antioxidants and how do they work?

An antioxidant is a molecule that can neutralize free radicals by donating an electron to a free radical that is desperately seeking an electron and will damage healthy cells to get one. This damage causes a chain reaction that creates further damage. Each time a free radical steals an electron it in turn causes another free radical to be formed. Antioxidants step in and stop this destructive process. This is why it is essential to have a steady source of incoming antioxidants to ward off the never ending process of free radical damage.

By "mopping up" free radicals, antioxidants are powerful weapons in the fight against degenerative diseases. By protecting cell integrity, antioxidants slow down the aging process, enhance immune function, reduce inflammation and fight allergies.

When you eat or drink acai, antioxidants become abundant in your blood supply and help your body to neutralize the damaging effect of free radicals and oxidation. Acai has fast acting and slow acting antioxidants and thus acts like a timed release antioxidant. After about four hours, the body has used up most of the antioxidants and so it needs them on a regular basis.

Ideally you should drink acai two to three times a day and eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to have a continuous supply of antioxidants for optimum health.
