What is Acai Berry?

So, what is Acai Berry anyway? That's what I wanted to know the first time I saw it on a sign at my local Jamba Juice.

Well, here's what I found out: The Acai Berry (pronounced ah-SIGH-ee) is a dark purple berry about the size of a grape. It has a large seed surrounded by a small amount of pulp. It grows in the Amazon rainforest in the river basin and floodplains. Botanists know it by it's Latin name Euterpe oleracea.

Acai is Recognized as the
No. 1 Superfood in the World!

The Acai Berry is loaded with nutrients. It has the highest antioxidants of any food ever tested by the USDA. It is said to taste like a like berries with a hint of chocolate. People say it is an acquired taste. I tend to agree. But in a juice blend - it is delicious!!

The fruit grows high atop palms that can be up to 100 feet tall. Although it grows throughout the Amazon River Basin, ninety percent of the Acai palms are found in the Para State of Brazil. The berries are harvested two times a year for a total of about 8 months of harvest time.

The Acai Berry possesses tremendous health benefits and is widely known for it's energy giving properties and high antioxidants.

Now that you know about the Acai berry, find out it's long history of use.
